Edo INEC Office Usurped By Flood

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin on Sunday said that the commission lost sensitive and non sensitive materials to flood.

The flood which occurred on Saturday knocked down the fence of the office and ravaged the entire building.

The Edo INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr Lebari Nduh, blamed the flood on the ongoing road construction and the poor drainages at Lucky Way.

He said water gained entrance into some critical stores of the commission where laptops, printing machines and card readers were all soaked with water.

He said 18 pickup vans of the commission that were packed at the office were also not spared by the flood.  He, however, called on relevant agencies such as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Ministry of Works to come to their aid.

He thanked the Nigeria police for securing the complex since the menace of the flood.
